Course Description
The Aviation Foundation and Readiness Program (AFRP) is a structured learning course designed for students in grades 10 to 12 who are seriously considering a future as a pilot. Unlike general exposure programs, AFRP goes deeper, introducing the actual technical subjects that form the foundation of professional flight training, taught at a level appropriate for school students.

Rather than just building excitement about aviation, AFRP builds real understanding covering the aviation ecosystem broadly, and then walking students through core flight training subjects including General Navigation, Radio Navigation, Aviation Meteorology, Air Regulations, Aircraft General Knowledge, Principles of Flight, Mass & Balance, Performance, Flight Safety, and more. Students engage with these concepts through structured classes, assignments, topic discussions, and test papers designed to genuinely check understanding, not just attendance.
Who should enroll?
AFRP is best suited for students in grades 10 to 12 who have moved past general curiosity and are seriously considering pursuing a career as a pilot. If you've done initial exposure through OFLY's Internship, Foundation Immersion Program, or similar and want to know what the actual technical foundation of flight training looks like, AFRP is the natural next step.

It replaces guesswork with real engagement including assignments completed, tests taken, concepts understood — giving you an honest, evidence-based picture of readiness.

Does my child need prior aviation knowledge to join AFRP?
No prior knowledge is required for Level 1. It's designed as a structured starting point for students genuinely considering aviation as a career, not just those already familiar with technical concepts.

Can a student join Level 2 directly, without completing Level 1?
In most cases, students are encouraged to begin with Level 1 to build a solid foundation. Students with a strong existing background may be considered for Level 2 directly. This can be discussed on your enrolment call.

The Internship and Foundation Immersion Program focus on broad exposure and awareness. AFRP goes further with teaching the actual technical subjects that form the foundation of professional flight training, with structured assignments and testing to measure genuine understanding.

Is AFRP only for students who are 100% certain about becoming a pilot?
No, but it's best suited for students who have moved beyond general curiosity and want a serious, structured introduction to the technical side of aviation before making bigger commitments.

What's the time commitment for AFRP?
Level 1 combines physical classes with self-paced e-book study. Level 2 is conducted over weekends via Zoom, specifically structured to avoid conflicting with school schedules.
